What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way for readers to discover authors new to them. I hope you’ll find new-to-you authors whose works you enjoy. On this stop on the blog hop, you’ll find a bit of information on me and one of my books and links to four other authors you can explore!
Thanks to fellow author Tasha L. Harrison for inviting me to participate in this event. You can click on her name to learn more about Tasha and her work.
In this blog hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered ten questions about our book or work-in–progress (giving you a sneak peek). We’ve also included some behind-the-scenes information about how and why we write what we write–the characters, inspirations, plotting and other choices we make. I hope you enjoy it!
Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!
1: What is the working title of your book?
I’m currently collecting stories for my first anthology as an editor, to be titled Can’t Get Enough.
2: Where did the idea come from for the book?
At the time I had pitched a batch of several ideas, and this was the one that jumped out at the publisher. This idea has particularly appealed to and intrigued me since erotica had been suddenly thrust into the limelight post Fifty Shades. I wanted to take that boldness of in your face sexuality and highlight it. I wanted to bring forth the theme of want, desire and urgency, and what better way to do that than to gether from different pools and present it in a multitude of ways, from different points of view?
3. What genre does your book come under?
Hello, have you met me? It’s erotica, of course.
4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
That’s what I love about anthologies, the mish mosh of characters, scenes and stories. In movie form, if were at all possible, I could see that characters ranging from Paula Patton to Ryan Gosling to Jamie Foxx to Adele (ooh I wish she did movies!) to Pauley Perrette.
5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Can’t Get Enough will be an erotic anthology filled with tales of insatiable desire and authors who bring forth stories brimming with sex, kinks and fetishes that you simply can’t get enough of.
6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
I am currently contracted with Cleis Press, a popular independent publisher of erotica, for this book.
7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I began collecting stories for this anthology in mid-November 2012, the deadline is February 15th (eek, this week!) and I will be wrapping it up by the end of March.
8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I could name anthology after anthology, but what definitely comes to mind are Rachel Kramer Bussel’s Gotta Have It, Alison Tyler’s Morning, Noon, and Night and Violet Blue’s Best Women’s Erotica Series.
9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
To put it simply, what inspired me was my love of the erotica genre, reading it, then ultimately being lucky enough to write and publish in it. I wanted to bring forth my own themes and ideas into a collection of my own. Knowing that my thirst for more wasn’t isolated, that other people had to be feeling and wanting it, too, was also a big nudge.
10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Readers will not only see authors that they know and love between the covers, but I have also discovered several authors who have admitted that while they spent years reading and loving erotica, they never tried until now to show their own writing to the world.
Below you will find authors who will be joining me by blogging, next Wednesday. Do be sure to bookmark and add them to your calendars for updates on WIPs and New Releases! Happy Writing and Reading!
